4.30pm: An Afternoon Of Art And Design – Designed by Zaha Hadid and opened in 2014, The Dongdaemun Design Plaza shows the futuristic side of Seoul. Part exhibition space, part convention centre, part concert hall, this monstrous metallic structure hosts everything from art exhibitions to trade shows and musical performances, while also housing spaces for use by creative industries and individuals in product design, fashion and art. 7pm: Slurp Some Revitalising Soup – Samgyetang, or ginseng chicken soup, is a Korean classic made with a whole chicken stuffed with rice, garlic, ginseng and jujube. Several restaurants have specialised in this beloved dish, but Tosokchon Samgyetang is one of the most famous, producing their own ingredients like 4-year matured ginseng, jujube, pine nuts and other nutritious add-ons. Former president Roh Moo-hyun’s go-to samgyetang place, there’s always a line outside – however, the restaurant is so spacious that the wait is never too long. 8pm: Hip Vibes In Hongdae – The place where trends are invented and born. A university district, Hongdae boasts an array of unique cafés, trendy stores and “in” restaurants for visitors to try out. A different vibe hits Hongdae as soon as the sun sets, when clubs begin to blast funky beats and the voices of talented busking musicians echo throughout the university area. 9.30pm: Go With The Flow – The Cheonggyecheon man-made stream stretches across northern Seoul, giving locals and visitors alike an opportunity to take pleasant walks under the city skyline. There are often art installations to view along the river, depending on the time of year, and it’s home to the Seoul Lantern Festival every November.
