Shake Strain Done

Who: Prose And Politics in Washington, DC
How: No shipping necessary

Drink better cocktails at home without obscure liquors or fussy techniques – that’s the premise of J.M. Hirsch’s Shake Strain Done: Craft Cocktails at Home. The James Beard Award winning writer and editor presents his new book in a virtual event with bookstore Prose and Politics on 14 November. The fact that many cocktail recipes call for hard-to-find ingredients or list complicated steps only serve to frustrate home cocktail makers, Hirsch argues, and he proposes a better way. Examples would be a “new White Russian” that is much lighter than the original (using coconut water instead of cream), a feisty gin and tonic with black pepper, or a Scorched Margarita using the broiler to char lemons and limes. Event participation is free with sign-up, but a ticket including a copy of the book is available here.
