Shorts and sandals aren’t the only way to go for a casual and comfy summer ‘fit. Rei Shito points to a local fashion designer and his easy, breezy yet strategically accessorised look.

Rei says: “I spotted this laid-back fashionista between Harajuku and Shibuya in Tokyo. He told me his cool denim is from B SIDES Jeans, his hat is La Maison de Lyllis, and his shirt is from India Is Beautiful – which is his very own brand!

“The best part of the look, in my opinion, is the use of accessories – the bohemian shoes and hat give a relaxed summery vibe, while the heavier jewellery adds an unexpected edge.

“I think the manner in which you accessorise a simple outfit is one of the purest expressions of your individual sense of style. I have photographed many people wearing many things, and I feel that the people I like most are the ones who have their own style and are constantly updating it.

“In other words, I appreciate those who have a firm sense of their own values and are tireless in their self-renewal. I think that pursuing a strong sense of personal fashion is one way to cultivate a cool way of life.”
