Influencers may be the celebrities of the digital age, but sometimes they, too, can get starstruck in the face of an icon.

For Rei Shito, that moment happened on a recent trip to Paris. It was just another glamorous day at Fashion Week for the street style photographer and fashion influencer, who was snapping shots of fellow fashionistas after Dame Vivienne Westwood’s show when the legendary designer herself emerged.

Rei says: “How lucky I was to be able to photograph Vivienne Westwood and her husband and fellow designer Andreas Kronthaler in Paris?!

“This was on 2 October, and Vivienne’s show – featuring a collection of Spring/Summer 2022 looks designed by Andreas – had just ended and I was taking snaps in front of the venue. Just when I thought that everyone had left and I myself was about to leave, they showed up! When I saw the legend, I was so nervous that all I could do was ask her if I could take this picture.

“Vivienne was wearing a knit and nylon dress made from an intriguing assortment of different materials and cuts. But as striking as it was, if you ask me, the yellow socks were the best part of her look. Andreas, with his combat boots and wool military-style jacket, looks a bit like a knight protecting her.”
