Ana Pau Valle: Be Prepared
Mexican model Ana Pau Valle is, as is to be expected of someone in her profession, used to living out of a suitcase. Her advice for keeping your outfits looking fresh should come as no surprise: “While traveling, even if it’s just a one-day trip, always be prepared for any occasion! Pack a dress, a pair of trousers, a cool blouse or bodysuit, and heels!” You never know who you’ll meet or where you’ll end up, right? So pack smart!

Mariana Rodríguez: Add A Statement Jacket
Colombian model Mariana Rodríguez has been working since she was 16, so it’s safe to say she’s learned her fair share when it comes to tricks of the trade. “When I was at school, I used to wear basic clothes – lots of jeans, tennis shoes and tees,” she says. “As I started to meet designers and get close to the fashion industry, my style changed.” Today, she makes sure to pair her beloved basics with a couple of statement designer pieces, usually in fabrics and colours that are easy to mix. Her one true love? “There’s one thing that I think is a key piece to own: A black leather jacket.”

Loren Lenox: Be Authentic
Bajan American model Loren Lenox knows how to keep it real. Her advice for an arresting outfit? “Pick things that always make you comfortable, but also happy to wear. Don’t get caught up in what celebrities or influencers are wearing. Don’t be afraid to stand out, and do wear what you love. It’s okay to not always follow trends!” You heard her: Time to find yourself, and embrace your unique style.

Amit Bitton: Get Comfortable In Your Own Skin
This one seems like an obvious piece of advice, but it’s arguably one of the hardest to follow. Israeli model Amit Bitton phrases it perfectly: “Feel comfortable in your own skin. If you aren’t, it’ll show. And most importantly, you won’t be able to express and explore your fashion sense unless you strive to love and accept every part of yourself. I could wear trends, designer outfits, revealing or oversized outfits, but nothing will look good if I’m not wearing my confidence.”

Ma Zizhan: Be Confident (And Maybe Go All-Black Everything)
Chinese model Ma Zizhan is also a strong advocate for self-confidence: “Don’t let anyone define you. You paint your future.” As for her fashion favourites? “I love wearing black. All-black makes me feel comfortable. I’d suggest a total look with black sunglasses and a purse.”

Charlotte Hommes: Go Black And Gold
When in doubt, Dutch model Charlotte Hommes has a similar go-to solution. “In my opinion, this rule counts every day and for all kinds of events: Whether you go to a fancy dinner or just have coffee with friends, black is always a good idea,” she says. “You can wear high-waisted black jeans combined with a black blouse or a simple turtleneck, and finish up with a nice gold-detailed belt and some gold jewellery. Black and gold is classy and timeless. Choose as many gold details as you like, depending on the occasion. Keep this in mind, and you will never go out of style.” Because if there’s anything better than looking fashionable, it’s looking fashionable and classy.

Léa Issarni: Get Crafty
Sick of wearing the same clothes as every other person on earth? We feel you! And so does French model Léa Issarni. Follow in her footsteps, and reinvent your wardrobe by taking old clothing and making it new. Inspired by her environment, and driven by her desire for special garments, Issarni created her own clothing brand, Manci: “Each piece is unique, made by me, most of the time unisex. The principle is that I take vintage clothes (in an upcycling process), and I personalise them with textile paint and embroidery that I do from my designs. Sometimes I create new clothes from several vintage pieces.”

Amber He: Less (Make-Up) Is More
According to Chinese model Amber He, a simple look can sometimes be best: “Natural makeup makes me look better. When I go to a casting or just to hang out with friends, I prefer something easy and delicate.” What’s more, it’s the perfect way to let your outfit shine. Oh, and as a bonus, here’s another tip from the pro on how to elevate fuss-free make-up just a tiny bit more: “I always clip my lashes together into clusters with a tweezer before the mascara dries to make them more obvious – but not too extra like fake lashes.”

Connie Andrade: Embrace Change
Salvadoran model Connie Andrade is also a mom and a business owner, and has learned to embrace every aspect and stage of her life: “Style for me is a constant evolution of your self-awareness”, says Andrade. “I love minimalist pieces that are timeless and chic, and often pair these pieces with more on-trend garments, depending on the season.” Her sage advice? “Don’t be afraid to unearth different layers of your essence as you journey through life, and you’ll magically transition through different colours and textures in your clothing. Style comes from within!”

Madhulika Sharma: Enjoy Experimenting
Indian native Madhulika Sharma has appeared on the pages of the Indian and Ukranian versions of Vogue, and has worked with the likes of Cult Gaia, Neiman Marcus, Prabal Gurung and Zimmermann. Her advice is to embrace your individuality: “With a job like mine where personal style can really set you apart, I have ironically found balance in pairing textures and silhouettes. I like to combine tailored pieces with baggy layers, dainty fabrics with industrial counterparts and high-street or luxury items with thrifted finds. A tip would be to invest in good quality basics of a neutral colour palette, and to then begin slowly experimenting with different fabrics. For example, silks with suede, knitwear with corduroy, and leather with denim. Remember, comfort is key and we don’t need excessive, flashy consumption in an industry notorious for polluting.”

Amelia D’Souza: Mix It Up
If you want your outfits to be unique, try vintage clothes! That’s what Irish-Indian model Amelia D’Souza advises: I love to wear clothes that make me feel like I’m in a different era – they help me connect me with my mixed history! One of my favourite trends right now is bringing back corsets and vintage-inspired tops – to me there’s an irreplaceable elegance to everything vintage!” Also, why not incorporate your very own cultural background into your style? D’Souza does: “I’m lucky to have inherited my grandmother’s Manhattan style and clothes from her, and I like to use Indian garments, as I am also half Indian. There is so much diversity in Indian clothing, and it’s lovely to see Indo-Western fusion wear coming up, too! I truly feel most confident in fusion wear, and I hope that fashion reaches a point where it’s accessible to and inclusive of all cultures.”

Elena Diazgranados: Break The Rules
Elena Diazgranados is a curvy Colombian model known for advocating for body positivity and size inclusivity. “I don’t believe in labels,” she states. “Growing up, I believed that I had to follow the rules of the world for people like me: Dress in black, wear wide-cut, ageless clothes… But I always wanted to dress my own way and feel powerful with clothes, which is hard to achieve when you never find your size in stores.” To solve her problem, Diazgranados became her own fashion designer, enlisting the help of a seamstress to have her own designs made. Her advice for fashion fanatics wanting to look their best? “Understand that the rules of fashion are made up by someone else. I dress as I want. You create your own rules, don’t follow someone else’s.”

Anastasia Puzyrnaya: Don’t Shy Away From Colour
Okay, so models wear a lot of black. Shocker. To be fair, it’s the most unfussy of all colours, and it’s easy to understand its appeal for people who are perpetually running from one casting to another. Anastasia Puzyrnaya, who’s currently repped in more than 13 countries across the globe, says: “I have a T-shirt that says ‘Black is the new black’, and that’s my credo. Plus, it’s pretty much the dress code for models in Paris.” Her advice to switch up an otherwise routine outfit? “I like to add a bright accent – shoes, a bag, a jacket, lipstick, accessories, anything. Don’t be afraid to experiment. Fashion today is not a definite concept.”
